I don't want to build BHAN alone

Growing (sustainably)
BHAN is growing - fast, organically, meaningfully. And as it grows, I am becoming increasingly aware of something very simple: I cannot do this in isolation.
As a person with ADHD, I have lots of creative ideas. Sometimes too many. Sometimes too crazy.
Carlo was my filter, my reality check, my sounding board. He was the person I could throw a completely wild idea at and trust to tell me whether it was brilliant, terrible, or somewhere in between.
Now that Carlo has stepped away from running BHAN, I have realised that I don't want to replace that relationship with another single person. I want to open that conversation to the community.
I want to keep trusting my instinct and experimenting. But I also need people around me who care about BHAN enough to question me, challenge me and help me see what I might be missing.
I can and will take responsibility for leading BHAN towards a brighter future. But I don't want to do it in isolation.
The BHAN Assembly
That's why I am establishing a new community body: the BHAN Assembly.
The Assembly will be made up of 12 BHANners who will help me sense-check ideas and shape the future of BHAN. It is a voluntary role. We will have a private WhatsApp group and meet once a month.
Why 12, you might ask? Well, it worked well for Jesus. It might as well work well for BHAN! 😂
The Assembly won't govern BHAN or vote on every decision. I remain responsible for the direction of the project, and there may be times when I listen to everyone and still decide to follow my instinct.
But I promise to listen.
I don't want people who simply agree with me. I want different perspectives, honest conversations and people who care enough about BHAN to challenge it.

A note on diversity
I would love the Assembly to reflect the beautiful diversity of the BHAN community. So, if you are part of a marginalised or underrepresented group, I particularly encourage you to step forward and nominate yourself.
The good news is that our community is already diverse by nature. Different ages, genders, sexualities, backgrounds, bodies, brains and life experiences already meet on our dancefloor.
I want that diversity around the table too. 🧡
